Wide, Wide As The Ocean#
We strive to be prayerful despite our weaknesses, failures and sickness in the soul.
In striving to please and to praise, do I somehow become more self-reliant and by-pass so much of His abundant loving care?
Surely in my striving I become vulnerable - more unable to accept the breadth and depth of acceptance my Lord teaches He has for me in his Word.
Why do I not fully realize the truth in this Sunday school chorus?
Wide, wide as the ocean, high as the heaven above
Deep, deep as the deepest sea is my Savior's love
I, though so unworthy, still am a child of His care
For His Word teaches me that His love reaches me everywhere.
His love does not wait for me to change. His love is always proffered without finding fault.
And yet I revel in the truth of Jesus as the Light of the World with the result that God and I are right with each other.
My constant prayer now is not to rely on acceptance and love of others so much as to give God the glory in all times and circumstances.
