Turning Trash To Treasure
There is a chameleon-like Old Testament prophecy - Zechariah!
Judgment, justice and victory are spoken of by God through Zechariah. This book opens and closes with His tenderness. Consideration and mercy brackets this difficult prophecy.
Zechariah prophesies:
On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the Lord's house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar. Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. (14:20-21)
Consider for a moment the menial items in these verses - the bells and pots.
These pots and bells are unable to elevate themselves, yet God does this willingly and easily.
God makes the valueless valuable, and the menial meaningful.
God adds value by calling the valueless into His service. He does what none other can or will do. That which has been trash becomes treasure.
God identifies the identifiers of the horses (the bells) as His. That which has no self-identity now does. He raises the low to high tasks. The polluted He makes pure!
This is His heart of tenderness. He raises the ignoble to nobility. His elevations will always deliver both dignity and purity; holy to the Lord Almighty.
To conclude then where we began in Seized By A Great Affection - this God of love who is without change of gentleness and kindness to you, still desires to bring release, refreshment and repair to your life each day.
His heart is full of rich tenderness for you, it always has been and will be forever the same.
Our Lord upcycles, He does not trash.
The Lord your God takes great delight in you ... (Zephaniah 3:17)
