I saw a torn Lamb

Enduring suffering is an important qualification for countless Christians. This is a 'promise'. Of course, any suffering I endure now or in the future pales next to the suffering of the Lamb of God on the cross.

There are many consequences of our Lord’s death. For us it means the defeat of satan, the power of sin is broken and the fear of death is gone. We have forgiveness of our sins, access to the Father, the mantle of righteousness and the hope of glory.

But there were consequences for Jesus Himself. Paul wrote,

‘And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name’ (Philippians 2:8–9) #

Anyone can wear a cross, but far fewer will bear one.
