Enemy 1 ~ Spoiling Discontent#
Soul Snack 187/14 ... The shirt of discontentment is woven with prickly threads, it irritates the soul.
Discontentment may also be likened to a surging sea within, rolling with the tides of emotion along the soul's shore. With the moon's regularity it flees - yet always to restlessly return.
As with the grave - discontentment is never satisfied. It continually steals harmony from life. Discontentment is death's partner to slay life's peace, until death itself is met.
The persistent strivings of the flesh, the rush for gold or the plugging of the holes within will neither succeed nor deliver; they are merely the fruits of the discontented.
Choose not to spoil what you have by striving for what you don't have.
The grace of thankfulness injures the greed of gaining more. Thanks continues to be the fiercest enemy to discontent.
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:12-13)
The apostle Paul had clothed himself in a contented independence:
To stand free from the cares of the world is the heartbeat of peace.
