You can expect abundant grace
Soul Snack 190/10 ... Extending presumption
Is it correct to presume upon God?
How wise is it to expect good-will from an all consuming fire?
Doesn't it conflict with the sensibility of life to expect benevolence from someone I rarely give benevolence to?
In a world of reaping and then sowing surely the mountains and valleys of life are so easily self-created, indeed as much as God's response to me is self-orchestrated?
Yet, in fleeting passions of poorly constrained thinking, I reflect that the fire not only consumes, but also refines. Refining is good. Flowing afresh, my imagination returns to the old Sunday School songs 'Gentle Jesus, meek and mild' and 'Yes- Jesus loves me.'
So, to ask again, is it correct to presume upon God? Surely He whose very construction is love, and instruction is to love, is the only one that CAN be presumed upon.
In this finite season of abundant grace, not only can God's infinite good-will be presumed upon, it can indeed be expected.
Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man
whose sin the Lord will never count against him. (Rms 4:7-8)
