Christmas - It's Not Automatic
Christmas both begins and ends with Christ.
Christmas day repeats each Christmas season only until the end of time. All the activities it exponentially multiplies, but dare not think it eternal.
Should not Christmas become the clothing of ourselves in Christ, as indeed the first Christmas was the clothing of God in human flesh?
- Christmas isn’t automatic, it can’t be taken for granted. It began with Mary, but each of us is asked to make our own contribution to giving flesh to Christian faith in the world. —Ronald Rolheiser
- We are called to incarnate Christ in our lives, to clothe our lives with Him, so that people can see Him in us, touch Him in us, recognize Him in us. —Catherine de Hueck Doherty
The Son was born that He may dwell within, and we in Him.
To those who would marry their Christian faith to body, mind and spirit - Christ is not lost. It is these folk who ensure the manger of God incarnate continues available to this staggering world.
At time's end is too Christmas' end.
Live in the present Christmas celebration of Christ each day, shine because His birth still shines.
The appointed time arrives when Christmas is no more, faith and hope will be lost, and flesh forever changed.
Certainly ENJOY & SHINE Christmas today, but shine always as best you can in Holy Spirit power, for Christmas carries no permanent guarantee.
Because the God who said, Out of darkness light shall shine, is the One who shone in our hearts to illuminate the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not out of us. (2 Corinthians 4:6-7)
