Why Easter Day?
It is utter nonsense that the dead can be raised. THE battle for belief is perennial. Likewise, Jesus' apostles joined hands in and with disbelief.
- Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, but these words seemed to them an no sense, and they did not believe them. (Luke 24:10-11)
- They (the apostles) did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead. (John 20:9)
Perhaps it is easier to us to believe, we stand at the other side of His ascension? Or, is it?
Consider the dreadful consequence if Christ is not risen? The real calamity is not that death ends life, but rather we are still in our sins. Woe-betide humanity!
But instead be encouraged, if Jesus wasn't innocent satan would have kept Him. The boulder across His tomb was a mere pebble to He who is The Rock of Ages.
Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? (1 Corinthians 15:56)
The Last Word:
I rise with Jesus, after I have died with Jesus.
