We All Want Our Fires Quelled
Daniel's friends were not released from the fire, instead Jesus entered the fire and stood with His friends in their torment.
The songs of deliverance that surround each disciple are God's presence and promises, persistently delivered from heaven to those in hardship. They are both protections and presence while we stand faithfully within life's superheated fires.
We want the fire quelled, He wants our hearts melted.
It is the unrelenting holding on to God's promises that protect us from us our own foolishness which plots escape.
It is too easy for the fool to move 'out of the frying pan and into the fire'.
Imagine for a moment if the fire you are in is keeping your larger enemy away, for the flames are too hot for them to approach you.
As with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego Jesus will choose to stand with you in the fire, because He knows there is a greater enemy out of the fire.
His presence is your rescue, not yet your release.
You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7)
