We are not built for endings!

Soul Snack 170/10 ... Endings

The day is bright but her spirit isn't.

Weary, war-torn and indeed weak are suitable adjectives to capture her emotional moments.

She feels that if she outstretches both her arms they will touch the walls of a tomb she is being ushered into but never desiring to visit. Feelings of encroaching darkness now envelop her very being.

The circumstances of death are not foreign to her. The long-felt sting of its bite, the grave's insatiable appetite have too often been too close. But this death, the loss of the one who succored her is the most painful bite of all.

There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, 'Enough!' The grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water and fire, which never says, 'Enough!' (Prov 30:15b-16)

Why is death so continually difficult- she rehearses in her mind?

Why am I not yet accustomed to such frequently recurring circumstances - she muses?

Her reply arrives - God whispers:

... death is always so difficult because you are made in My image, you are not made for endings.

(A special thanks to Krystine Keen for being the inspiring voice of God's whisper.)
