Victory over self-judgements

Soul Snack 186/10 ... Pillow Talk

The day is as expired as his energy, yet even with his head softly sunk in the pillow, sleep eludes. His eyes are at rest behind closed eyelids, yet his mind is not. He has now entered the perfect classroom for self-teaching.

He thought he knew it all and humility had not ever beeped on his radar. Failure again was the order of his day. Failure is frequently a great ego leveller, with pride being the strongest resistor to such levelling.

Repeated failures need to be assessed. Strongholds of self-confidence so surely require a prayerful and deliberate self-audit.

For he who had been sure of himself would now measure his life that sleepless evening and assess his self-judgements.

Is this great thinker really great at thinking?

Is this great perseverer really great at persevering?

Is this great rule-keeper really great at obedience?

These questions and so many more now circulate his restless cortex.

The wise will assess their life, they will question their self-judgements -- the humble will receive understanding and the correct answers.

For this is what the high and lofty One says—
he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
"I live in a high and holy place,
but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly
and to revive the heart of the contrite. (Is 57:15)
