Unshaken Love
The ancient Greeks and Romans (among too many other 'societies') practised the chilling, abominable habit of exposing 'unacceptable' new-borns.
The disapproved child was abandoned to a hillside until exposure, hunger, thirst or animal attack would claim their innocent life.
- To be abandoned is to be destroyed, even if breath remains in the lungs.
- To be abandoned is to lose all protection, to receive no advocacy.
- To be abandoned is to be lashed by life's unfailing storms, endure them without comfort.
The prophet Isaiah speaks of God's unfailing commitment of love towards a people lost to love, alive to rejection and alert to abandonment.
The Lord knows that the abandoned person enjoys no warmth, receiving the commitment of none.
To the despised, the dejected and those in despair, God rightly affirms His love. It cannot be shaken by any action that they do or is done to them.
God's compassion remains secure above all earthly events, unaffected by any earthly decisions.
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:10)
The unshakeable heavenly Throne guarantees the love to get you home.
