Soul Snack 82/10 ... Mastering the Soul
The deepening of relationship is the goal of all intimacy. The master of one's relationships is the master of the soul.
The soul was formed by its parenting and is nurtured by what it feeds on. Its parenting and its food determine its health.
The soul is the seat to physical response, rational thought and yesterday's re-collections. It provides light and darkness to its owner's world.
The soul can weave a tapestry of health, a garment of well-being or be a mirror to despair.
The wisdom of the mind will search the depth of the soul. It is when the mind enquires of the soul and examines its actions that self-understanding has begun.
To audit the soul is to learn one's heart. The audit will reveal the 'logs in the eyes' (Mt 7:1-5) and 'the splinters in the flesh' (2 Cor 12:7). Intimacy with Jesus grows from knowing me.
To understand the soul is to master me. For there is little pursuing of Jesus if there is not the mastering of me.
'In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.' (Lk 14:33)
