Trying to contain hatred

Soul Snack 56/10 ...  A Tortured Treaty

The ink had not dried on this noble treaty. However gunfire still menacingly ricochetted down the valley as a tragic triumph of war over good-will. Hatred was stronger than hope.

2000 years ago a treaty was crafted in grace and secured with mercy, yet it too has been insufficient to contain hatred. Nailed to a cross high on a hill, all could see it but few would sign it.

Blood flowed from this treaty as darkness reigned. Peace had been offered to all but few acccepted.

The remainder of the peace rejectors continued in an enmity driven war against their maker. They did not even realize they were at war. Hatred was the evidence.

Yet a small few now reclined in a love-enhanced harmony. They simply pursued peace, refusing to war anymore. Accepting and giving forgiveness does this.

When forgiveness is available and offered why do so many still choose war, why do they reject peace?

Hatred will always exist whenever heaven's help is refused.

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Lk 23:34a)
