This IS a World of Walls#
So many of us can't wait for Christmas, while others can't wait to get through it. ~ Rico Tice
Did you know in 2003 that a wall was built between Bethlehem and Jerusalem? Most of it is at least eight meters high and stretches six hundred kilometers. As you read this, this wall still exists.
Looking elsewhere walls are ever present too. Not just bricks and mortar but found in every quarter. There are walls in lounge rooms, walls between neighbors and walls erected in minds and souls. Families are separated, just microcosms of nations. That's the reality. We camouflage walls with tinsel, turkeys and TV. This IS a world of walls.
Jesus entered this walled community into a reality not so different from the world today. Yep, Jesus 'slipped in' too, where kings were threatened and 'murder' was dressed as 'love'.
A fallen and rotten world already, with too many barriers, continually erects more because of sin. Our Father in heaven would become separated from the purity of His Son at the Cross.
The wall of sin had to wait thirty-three years to tumble. But, that 1st Christmas ignited a slow burning 'explosive' fuse.
The essence of Christmas is now God's forgiving presence, as Jesus tore down our walls. He still reaches toward us.
The curtain in the Temple was torn in to from TOP to BOTTOM. (Mark 15:38)
The Last Word:
Forgiveness razes walls to the ground.
