There was a true Eden
Tantalising mans' collective mind since oral history's first words - is the story of Eden.
Eden was true paradise! Harmony in a never-ending supply. And, the purest and finest food nurtured by four mighty rivers for only a table for two. Each day in Eden sealed with the ultimate life experience - walking intimately with God.
The pundits and 'the wise' alike dismiss Eden as myth or mere Hebrew poetry. But, the New Testament does not.
'Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come'. (Romans 5:17)
For those who believe in a real Eden the desire to recapture it grows strong.
The problem with that first Eden is that I learnt to take my eyes off God and place them on myself. I could see I was naked. I could now see my problems, and now felt my shame. (Genesis 3:7)
I need rescuing from Eden as much as I want to re-capture it.
I will always need God while on earth as much as the first day I met Him.
BUT from the joy of finally meeting the Lord all my needs will fall silent, because only then can my eyes be completely off ME.
As in Eden so too in heaven. I will walk beside Him, sit with Him and chat with Him. Harmony reigns.
My Edenic rescue will be then complete. No longer will I see myself, my failings, my pain or even my nakedness again. (Nor will I see this in others, or they in me.)
Thankfully there are no mirrors in the new 'eden' that soon will be .
'Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind'. (Isaiah 65:17)
Today's Soul Snippet:
'It is from the desert/wilderness that the steadfastness of faith is formed or lost.'
