There is no choice ...
Soul Snack 52/10 ... Follow Me!
Surely Peter was basking in the individual attention of He who set the sun in place? He surely was imbibing the mercy and enjoying the forgiveness? Were these new feelings to Peter - we can't know, but they were good ones! With his restoration Peter had received a new and deliberate grace into his frail life.
The building blocks of restoration are:
- mercy,
- forgiveness and
- grace
These three delightful and generous outpourings of heaven are blessings to equip.
Yet these gifts claim the recipient. They stamp an undebatable ownership. These gifts are wrapped in the finest of wrapping paper, overprinted with 'He must increase and I must decrease'. (John 3:30)
'Follow me' is no truncated invitation tempered by acquiescience and comforable with mediocrity. 'Follow Me' is no appeal for a compromise in an ongoing carnal dalliance or personal ambition. 'Follow me' is no generic assualt on my spiritual senses designed to 'whip up' some simple marginal rising above mediocrity.
'Follow me' is THE commanding instruction from the commander of the universe. It is HIs call to order.
Follow me' is the directions for my feet today and my good future tomorrow. It claims me in the present that I may have a desirable hereafter. It wraps my heart in Him and brooks no competitors.
There is no place for the distractable or the half-hearted. Jesus does NOT restore me to return me to my old ways. He restores me to release me into His new ways for me.
'Follow me' expects the difficult, delivers with supernatural tenacity and hears His call so much more loudly than the call of the world.
Each morning I breakfast with Jesus, I have made myself available receive His daily call ... FOLLOW ME!
