The Very Breath of Humility ~ B
To pick up where we had left off...
Children are the very breath of humility. It is children who Jesus honored, because they already belong to the Kingdom of God. Such children are still unable to divide good from evil.
In effect Jesus said, blessed are you if you love to be unknown and regarded as nothing. - Brennan Manning.
To prefer contempt to honor, ridicule to praise, humiliation to glory - these are the formulas of greatness in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Men of humility are rarely sought by men of pride.
Proud men avoid the humble as a pagan is threatened at entering a church.
Pride upon earth is a prison with the door open. But, that door closes in a heartbeat when the breath is snatched away.
Humility is becoming what you hated and realizing that you were wrong.
Humility is a refreshing, peaceful pond to always swim in, but pride becomes a storm men can only drown in.
God offers humility towards men, but its spread is most uneven for so many reject it.
This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My word. (Isaiah 66:2b)
