The Truth that IS in Jesus ~ A
Soul Snack 63/14 ... The Apostle Paul uses the phrase, “the truth that is in Jesus,” in the Letter to the Ephesians (4:21) as he reminds the people of God – who still live in the midst of this world – that there are not two ways to follow Christ Jesus, but only one. There is the way of the Gentiles, those who do not know the love of God in Christ Jesus, and there is “the way you learned Christ” (v.20).
This stark contrast is used to remind them that they have turned their back on “darkness” and “impurity,” they have left “ignorance” and “hardness of heart” behind, and have escaped from the “futility of their minds.” All this is true, he says, because they have “put off [their] old self” and “put on the new self.”
Christians are now, followers of Jesus, his disciples. They must live differently than those who are not. This is not confusing or ambiguous, it is absolutely clear – unless they have not really been taught about Christ, “as the truth is in Jesus.”#
Last century a lie was perpetrated and copyrighted by the X-Files, The Truth is Out There - no it isn't!
Only those taught by Jesus can grasp this, the remainder of the world sinks further into the morass of deceit.
There is no double-mindedness to truth. It is neither opaque nor obscure, but it has been suppressed by wickedness.
No man can wrestle with the truth and win. There is only one redeemed life to live.
Christians can no more straddle light and dark, truth and lies, the old self and the new self than the Israelites could straddle the Red Sea.
