The Testing of Faith
Suffering confronts the benevolence of God.
It is in our appalling darknesses that we mistrust the love He has shown us in our easy light.
Yet, it is faith that raises its threatening fists against the strongest of enemies. Then the divinely implanted good truths will overthrow all outward contrary evidence; they hold the believer steadfast.
It is faith that rises from the ashes.
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. ~ Tertullian
The martyrs lived and then died this axiom:
tested faith is the only faith.
Faith that is tested becomes a sturdy confidence in today and tomorrow, despite whatever troubles assail.
Faith knows God's protection never changes, for His unfailing love surrounds both now and forevermore.
...the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him. (Psalm 32:10b)
Faith that has not been tested is no faith at all.
