The Sunshine of Love

Soul Snack 150/14 ... Circa 1967 Eric Clapton strummed The Sunshine of Your Love, countless more worldwide have since joined the chorus.

Love is just like that - it brings sunshine.

Yet during times of sunshine it is easy to forget the Lord.

When the seasons cloud into varied shades of gray, it is equally simple to groan at God.

be at rest O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. (Psalm 116:7)

Praise the Lord who has been and is still good to you; during all the:

  • tsunamis,
  • storms,
  • sprinkles and
  • sunshine.

When the world may scream, you can still sing.

To mix the metaphors - many praise in times of feasting, but far less in seasons of famine.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. (Psalm 89:15)

It is the ability to praise God regardless of circumstance that is a blessing. This is the real sunshine of God's love.

(PS - remember love can never simply be a decision of the head; it is always an expression, a desire of the heart. Desire is far stronger than decision. Your praise of God is a God enabled response from His love to you.)

Soul Snippet:

Humility is an aphrodisiac to worship.
