The Suitcase of the Soul
The heart is the suitcase of the soul.
The heart carries all my meditations, the fine ones and the shameful ones. In fact, packed within my heart is all that I move through life with - my past, my present and hence my impacted future.
Neatly folded inside this case (or scattered without care) are my loves, blessings and joys. They are crammed beside my sins, sicknesses and a variety of other burdens. The lid is usually closed. This is a safe option, for as the suitcase travels about with me the contents won't then spill. But at various times the lid pops open. A smile I instantly beam, the rough handling of another or an unwitting stumble reveals what lies within, unless the lid is ever-so hastily closed.
The heart's contents cannot be fled anymore than its love can be bought.
The Lord gazes upon all hearts. Nothing at all is withheld from His sight. No darkness can resist His eyes, no mountain-range may block His gaze. Certainly no suitcase lid.
His invitation to those whose heart is burdened, bruised or just weary...
His invitation to those who peer within feeling sad at what it carries... AND
His invitation to those whose hearts bubble with gladness is..
Remember God has first written your name upon His pages in the Book of Life - His heart. You are forever safely held within the suitcase of His soul.
Indeed, of Zion it will be said, ‘This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her.’ The Lord will write in the register of the peoples: ‘This one was born in Zion.’ (Psalm 87:5-6)
Today's Soul Snippet:
No one can flee the meditations of their heart.
