The Empty Man
The longings of the righteous will be satisfied.
The anxious heart weighs a man down.
Heartache crushes the spirit.
A crushed spirit who can bear?
A crushed spirit dries up the bones.
BUT...
The Lord saves those crushed in spirit, and a bruised reed He does not break.
To those crushed in spirit the questions arise, who is:
- speaking to your heart, not just your head?
- more likely to bless you, you or Jesus?
- best equipped to raise you up again, you or Jesus?
- who gives to you without taking back?
- who gives to you without finding fault?
It is from crushing that thirst for the Lord is gained. It is from thirsting that filling is sought.
Crushing is never an end of itself, but it is the tomb to self.
Crushing feels like burdens, but are really disguised blessings that remove sin. Then they are replaced by divine anointing.
It is not until a man is fully emptied that he can be again completely filled.
He who has suffered is done with sin. (1 Peter 4:1b)
The longings of the righteous are satisfied.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)
