The Day of the Eagle
Eagles are the undisputed warriors of the heavens, the veterans and victors of the skies.
Their wing's payloads are both the graces and judgements of God.
Eagles are divinely appointed instruments to do His bidding.
They swoop and they kill - they stand and they clean.
Unlike vultures they do not tarry waiting for death to their prey, they carry it.
The terror of their beaks and the snare of their talons permit no escape.
The eyes of the eagle scan both the horizon in front and the earth below. From its supreme vantage in its prey has only a 'canopy' of vulnerability.
With the might of its wings, the speed of its flight and the courage of its intentions eagles prevail.
As an eagle swiftly snatches an unsuspecting rodent so too does the Lord's Day dawn.
As the rays of the Lord's Day rise, judgement will fall unhindered from the eagles wings, and strike from its claws.
There are no parts of earth's sky an eagle can't fly, there is no place below it will miss. There is no escape.
The day of the eagle is the coming swoop of the Lord.
For this is what the LORD says: He will swoop down like an eagle and spread his wings against Moab. (Jeremiah 48:40)
The wise reckon the Divine assize while the fool frolics around the halls of pleasures.
