THE CHILD on the HIGHWAY
Since the outbreak of a heartless Syrian civil war in March 2011 an estimated 9 million refugees have fled their torn homes.
As Syrians still flee to Europe, an infant Jesus also fled to Egypt.
...an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. ‘Get up,’ he said, ‘take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.’ (Matthew 2:13)
Jesus is rarely considered as a child fleeing for His life, yet malevolence and murder too sought Him out.
This Christ-child is the continually forgotten refugee in the world He came to save.
Jesus was born a refugee to carry their load and favor their lives.
Those who would seek the Child of the highway are too only travellers, refugees from Babylon, for they also trek to a home as yet unseen from a home no longer wanted.

"Christmas is a celebration lived between the creator's intent and how the world thinks."
