The Beautiful Reflection
A study from 2013 reported that women spend an average of $15,000 on make-up in a life time.
My simple male instincts yell - this is outrageous, I am sure it is much more!
Make-up is clothing to the face. Applying make-up is an art, a skill females and males alike thirst for.
Why is make-up so important? It brings glory to the face, a euphoria the body and soul can then bask in.
If my face reflects me well, it will bring glory to me.
But how sad is this fact for dog-owners?
The unkind jibe is heard that dog owners begin to look like their dogs.
What we value we will reflect.
What is on our mind we show in our smiles, frowns or gazes - or a hundred other ways.
Our faces reflect much more than our appearance, but also what lies within.
Are not the eyes still the window the soul?
History records Moses as a man very familiar with drawing into God's presence. He knew God so intimately that his face radiated only God's glory, bringing none to himself.
As we gaze on Your kindly brightness.
So our faces display Your likeness.
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story. (Shine Jesus Shine)
The face that mirrors the Lord's and not itself is a beautiful face and does not age, for it first dwells in stillness, dependence and humility with Him.
We all mirror those we keep company with.
