Terrorists in the church
Soul Snack 189/10 ... Spiritual Terrorism
Striking at the heart of any modern warrior is the fear of unknown devices and an ambush swelled with malevolent intent.
The very invisible nature of these threats deliver sufficient fear before any real menace is ever met.
Countless ecclesiastical generations are spiritual terrorists. They have set spiritual mine traps, hidden spiritual I.E.D.s and written a well meaning, but soul consuming law.
They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. (Matt 23:4)
Such man-made traps, trip the sinner and imprison their body through these legalistic paths to destruction. Souls are destroyed and spirits severed when man tortures man to travel an explosive path of rule keeping.
But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. (Matt 23:23a)
Such spiritual terrorism is ignorant to grace, blind to compassion and deaf to mercy. It can not countenance error. It is embodied in the theologically arrogant, yet is thankfully lost at the altar of love.
There is no terrorism in love, but great destruction in the law. Love captivates, but the law cripples. In the law there is only binding condemnation, but in love there is only liberating grace.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor 13:13)
