Sweet Comfort
Soul Snack 151/14 ... Where is there endurance without comfort?
Both suffering and comfort are shared from Christ.
For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. (2 Corinthians 1:5)
Is the problem of suffering that we usually seek comfort from the ice-cream bucket or parlor?
Sweetness brings comfort. The soul knows this, so the body seeks it.
Is the bellow from within for comfort much louder than the spiritual pleas for calm?
Of the seeking of comfort even to the earth's ends there is no satisfaction, so excesses are learned beyond the point of human control as comfort continues unmet.
They (God's words) are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. (Psalm 19:10)
The seeking of Christ's sweet words of comfort can never lead to addiction, nor will they take you to the cul-de-sac of sin.
Christ's sweet words never dull in flavor, and His sweetest bucket is never emptied despite constant use. They are far more permanent than the need for them.
Soul Snippet:
Satan has a proven track record for deceit.
