God has so safely encompassed my heart with a rib cage. The source of my life needs strong protection, great care and consistent maintenance.
My heart is "the wellspring of my life." (Prov 4:23/22:5) An impenetrable shield is needed to guard my heart - a hedge of righteousness to guard my life and soul.
There is a protective layer available to me, an armour in the wrestle with sin. This armour is from Jesus, the protector and securer of my faith.
Without Jesus there is only restlessness, vulnerability and assault as the compelling desires of sin seek to assail.
Without Jesus there is only poor reason to resist and failing energy to fight.
To step into the mantle of Jesus pursues the richness of a life founded on righteousness. It also then equips me to flee from the real personal poverty of evil and indulgence. It is to sample heaven and savour earth no more.
