Soul Snack 8/149 ... Pursuing Happiness
Have you ever thought, Christ belongs to YOU?
It is easy to reason that I belong to Jesus, but has the reverse ever occurred to you?
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Col 3:4)
When Christ is my life he belongs to me. He has given Himself to me and for me. He has selflessly chosen to harness His life to mine.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last (Jn 15:16)
Jesus has set Himself the task, the unenviable task of giving Himself for me and to me.
He now participates in my relationships (whether I conduct them well or not). He now attends work with me each day and He even chooses to join in my recreational activities (even if He does not like them). This saviour now water-skies, mountain bikes or abseils just to be with me.
To have Christ as my own can bring Him heartache or happiness. He is with me constantly in all my choices.
For my part I only want to bring Him happiness, for that is what He brings me.
