Soul Snack 8/65 ... Touching the Eternal
The knowledge of God is vigorously pursued across this world and across eons of time.
Countless faiths have littered the history books. All seeking somehow to engage the gods and touch the eternal; all attempts at reaching up to heaven from human endeavour.
The Aztecs, the Incas, the Egyptians all developed most complex faiths in their search for the eternal. They developed evil religious complexities that consumed human life with buildings, and children with sacrifice.
The only God of Heaven truly wants to be correctly known. He can not be known by evil indulgence.
Fortunately, His desire to reveal himself to me means I actually don't get what I deserve. God deals with the rebellious in a manner that will introduce them to Him. He deals with rebellious for His namesake and not as they warrant.
I, even I, am He who blots out
your transgressions, for my own sake,
and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25
God's mitigation of my sin is so that I can know Him and He's glorified. This is His healthy desire. Without this healthy desire, I would be obliterated. If God did not care about being known, I would simply be gone.
God's self revelation is His catalyst for my forgiveness. Forgiveness is all about restoring relationships. It brings both He and and me eternal well being. God likes to forgive. Forgiveness makes God happy. He is most happy when I choose His forgiveness and then sow like-wise.
When I choose His forgiveness, I choose the easy and correct way to touch the eternal.
