Yesterday's heat.

Soul Snack 59/10 ... Yesterday's Heat.

Drowning his sorrows was imbedded deep in his spirit and uppermost in his mind. He had three drinks lined up before him, their bouncing bubbles rising to tingle his pores.

Misty spectacles now filtered his view of the panacea laid out before him.

Countless times previously he had taxied down this path. He knew he would briefly feel so good but actually receive so little. Still he persisted.

He lived a heartache that fully hindered his health. Fears from the past still crippled his present and  threatened to destroy his future.

His spirit wilted under the 'heat of yesterday' as his forearm slid to embrace his dawn self-medication.

His heavenly Father knew so well the torture he doggedly masked.

His heavenly Father so longed to speak these words of eternal grace:

"I still delight in you, even right now," but the beer had prevented the blessing yet again.

Today's pain had again needlessly become tomorrow's sorrows.

"The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing." (Zeph 3:17)
