Visiting Jesus
Soul Snack 9/216 ... Visiting Jesus
Responding to this offer was arguably the wisest act of their life to date.
Squinting into this impossibly lit ancient room, they learned in an instant the uttter humility of God's dwelling among men.
This was no mansion. palace or hotel, it was not even Jesus' home, but He HAD invited them.
John had introduced them to Jesus. This was a new introduction, and new meetings can so easily lead into new directions.
To be invited to visit Jesus is actually to be invited to stay. To stay with Jesus is to receive new directions.
Jesus does not invite 'visitors' but only 'stayers'.
The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!" When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" "Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. (Jn 1:35-39)
