Wrestling with the Cross
Soul Snack 10/11 ... Wrestling with the Cross
There is a false self and the real self.
The false self is so often founded upon the topics we play in our brain.
These topics may reinforce our worthlessness, magnify our sense of unacceptability or promote a performance-dominated self. Sadly this false self is where so many live and operate from because they believe it to be true.
This false self doesn't believe they are delightful.
This false self doesn't believe they can be sung over.
This false self doesn't believe they bring rejoicing with their presence.
This false self promotes hiding the real self.
This false self promotes self hatred.
This false self promotes a sense of isolation.
And most sadly this false self finds it is impossible to own the good truth of Heaven.
The crucified lover of the false self can never be a friend. He is of a mere theological interest to captivate my head, but my false self will prevent Him from capturing my heart.
The truth is we have all been deceived.
The truth is Jesus looks at each one of us with the same love that He spoke to His mother from His cross.
His scars are still there because His love hasn't changed, but with His love, I can.
Love is the blood of the Savior. Through it comes health, without it there is death.
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. (1 John 4:9)
