Giving Peace a Chance
Soul Snack 211/13 ... Giving Peace a Chance.
Four decades ago with worldwide acclaim John Lennon pleaded - give peace a chance.
When has the face of this planet ever been washed in harmony?
Where is the man who has lived without anguish?
Who is the person without pain?
Peace is as absent upon earth as it is within earth's inhabitants.
Nations war while people skirmish.
We surf pharmaceutical shelves for panaceas.
We seek rest and we take pills.
We drink elixirs for quiet within, yet the noise remains.
All attempts fail, for strivings are as futile as peace is elusive.
When peace has eluded, exchange the searching for peace with the longing to trust God.
When we replace the hunger for rest, with a faith that trusts - strivings can cease and just maybe we have given peace a chance.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. (Ps 118:8)
