Heaven's Torch

Soul Snack 9/211 ... Heaven's Torch.

Surrounded in a supernatural mid-afternoon darkness Jesus pleads with heaven -  "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing!" (LK 23:34)

Jesus has spoken light into darkness. He has turned heaven's torch on.  Jesus has won by losing.

This last gasp of grace has pierced the darkness of mean living for two millenia.

The paradox of life is that I win by losing.

God honors losers.

God is sensibly interested in my responses to the darkness that enters my life too. God watches how I respond when I am losing.

When the darkness is deep I should still feed my enemy and live Jesus' gracious plea. When my enemy asks for my cloak and I give him a 2nd, I have nailed Jesus' plea to my life.

Many live in darkness out of ignorance - yet in the times of despair, depression or despondency I can live well in darkness.  Jesus has spoken light into darkness that I may still live well in times of pain.

"While I am in the world, I am the light of the world!" Jn 9:5
