Man's longest journey
Soul Snack 172/10 ... Man's longest journey
As regular Soul Snack readers MUST know, I am engulfed by the graces of heaven delivered through the gifting of a fractured and forgiven vessel - Brennan Manning.
Brennan penned - "Has the thunder of 'God loved the world so much' been so muffled by the roar of religious rhetoric, that we are deaf to the word that God could have tender feelings for us?"#
In an almost rehearsed unison of my soul and spirit I exclaim ... ah ha - GENIUS!
Brennan has unwittingly captured Christianity's greatest sleight of hand in this echoing peal of heaven-expressed emotion. This perspicuous heavenly declaration of intent has itself become ritual.
This heaven sent guarantee of love is now thought upon, wrestled with, even maligned but rarely digested. It is present in words, but absent in the soul.
This thundering truth of God's love so many know without knowing.
Surely this axiom remains true - the longest journey a man can take is from his head to his heart.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (Jn 3:16)
