Karma

Soul Snack 6/11 ... Karma

Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matt 18:18)

Grasping at good intentions had been the course of their life. Seeking good-will by sowing good-will was their modes operandi. This heart of reciprocity seemed so sensible, the world calls it karma but they knew it simply as reaping and sowing. They believed it would yield a good life.

Factor in life's meandering vagaries, the chance encounters, the meetings of grouchiness and the mean mouth of responses - each circumstance reinforces a hollowness to the law of reciprocity.

The multiplication of ill-will and the disbelief of good intentions all compound the apparent inefficiency of reaping and sowing. It is as if their good-will is being robbed and replaced by another's poor will. Have you ever felt that?

From the most superior vantage point in the cosmos, the Throne of Grace witnesses the random exchanges and hears a multiplied ill-will. He sees gracelessness, but loves the graceful response. So often what is sown on earth is reaped in heaven.

When earth misses the graceful action, heaven will multiply it, but sometimes it's in heaven before God's multiplying responses are received.

LORD, do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart. (Ps 125:4)
