Dream Stealer
Soul Snack 174/10 ... Dream Stealer
The soul of the devoted, bears much conflict these days. The assaults to abandon the God-given vision of heaven assail with a hopefully unrequited abandon.
The work of the Holy Spirit of Christ confronts the entire work conducted by the spirits of this world. The spirits of this world lash out at the believer, seeking to devour. At other times, they caress and seduce, but still with the same goal, to consume the follower of Jesus.
At such times, and aware of these assaults, Elijah's place of solace and refuge - a cave, can tantalisingly invite.
So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. There he went into a cave and spent the night. (1 Kings 19:8-9)
Escape the battering of earth and simply live for the joy of heaven becomes the next enticement, for this is what a cave can offer.
Yet, how can you live for heaven if you are really remote from this earth?
