A Sober Snack
Soul Snack 23/10 ... A Sober Snack
No child ever chooses to be born. No child ever pleaded with a potential parent for life. No child is born to suffer although countless are born into suffering.
"Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed! Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying, 'A child is born to you—a son!' ..." (Jer 20:14-15)
No child has ever, can ever or will ever request their presence on earth. No child can invite their destiny.
Yet, here's the wrestle - regardless of their circumstances in life, life remains a gift from God. It is still another sign of His favor, His first deposit of grace.
Clearly, suffering can remove any thought that life may be a gift. Jeremiah surely thought this way.
When the day of death attracts more than the pull of life, it is the day that they have already died. They may still have breath, but are now blind to blessings.
It can be both the restless and relentless battle through life, to still believe in the light when all they see or feel is darkness.
Be at rest once more, O my soul,
for the LORD has been good to you. (Ps 116:7)
