A Lesson from Israel

Soul Snack 11/10 ... A Lesson from Israel.

I am sure there is always a best path in life. I am also equally sure that many miss it!

This is what the LORD says—
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
"I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.

If only you had paid attention to my commands,
your peace would have been like a river,
your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Your descendants would have been like the sand,
       your children like its numberless grains;
their name would never be cut off
nor destroyed from before me." Is 48:17-19

The pursuit of the most favoured path for me is not found in seeking my desires alone - contrary to popular belief. Yet, it is still very readily available for me, should I seek it!

Somebody actually does know what is best for me.

Somebody actually does want what is best for me.

Somebody actually does have my interests above His own.

Somebody even wants to give me that which is His best.

(Hmm ... I still always keep my best for me.)

Somebody even doesn't want to demand from me, but deliver to me!

He freely gives gracious counsel.

His faithfulness is to me dis-regards my faithlessness to Him.

He has a far superior will for me that I am ever likely to create or imagine for me.

His will for me is exceptionally good, pleasing and perfect. (Roms 12:1-3)

His good will is the only source of my peace, righteousness and even descendants.

I receive His riches and I delight freely in the richest of fare when I listen to the Lord my God and accept His directions without reservation. (Is 55:4)

Learn fom the Israelites but don't live like the Israelites.

(Hmm ... whose will is more likley to hurt me - mine or Jesus'?)
