So deftly he turned the tabloid pages, so practised his perusal of the positions vacant. The world was his oyster. The future at his feet. Great finals results, unbounded health and indulgent independence assured.
Thumbing the opportunities he thought were his, his priority - 'how-much?'
It is a simple leap of logic to believe I own my destiny. My selfish ambition always indicates that I direct my footsteps. It is far too easy to think my future belongs to me.
Only God can guide me in the right pathways. Only God can deliver to my soul the righteousness that blesses now and forevermore. Only God will own me well.
There is an eternal and great poverty in the wisdom of self-direction.
'... ask where the good way is and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls ...' Jer 6:16b
Father,
Please direct my steps this day. I want to only walk the paths of righteousness, for I belong to you. Amen
