Without favour he disregarded both the strong and the weak. He enjoyed his menacing drawl and haunting eyes that had deposited fear into many a heart. Both the timid and the tough, always felt threatened in this man's presence.
A good, yet aggressive friend of mine taunts - "Don't let fear hold ya' back," as he raises clenched knuckles, topped by tattoo adorned forearms. His beaming smile always dilutes his aggression.
The emotion of fear can overwhelm an individual as much as it can control another.
The presence of fear is a divinely implanted 'call to action'. The action can only ever be fight or flight. Pride can so often be the motivator when the fight option is selected.
It is the God-fearing man who will be wise and determine when to use fear as an engine or a brake.
"But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." Lk 12:5
