Choking the Soul
Soul Snack 75/11 ... Choking the Soul
Christians are called to peace not war - grace not greed and a life lived well from faith.
Forgiveness is the yeast of relationships and love is the glue of unity. In fact correct theology or pride of knowledge is rarely a bond to unity, or a magnifier of love.
Motives are driven by love for Jesus and a heart of thankfulness. Each act of gracious service is well seeded without a spirit of grumbling, resentment or manoeuvring for personal power. Such altruism hung from the Cross. Jesus' service still screams to me and will guide me correctly.
The best will never be received (or given) when service is conducted from self-interest. This is both a cheating of the receiver and a choking to the giver's soul.
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Cor 15:58)
