The God who follows
Soul Snack 71/11 ... The God who follows
Jonah knew God - but not very well.
Jonah heard from God - even communed with God.
Jonah heard what he did not like - a call to serve where he did not want to go.
Under the binding yoke of an ingrained indulgence Jonah took flight from the divine - at least he thought he did anyway.
This terrified them and they asked, What have you done? (They knew he was running away from the LORD, because he had already told them so.) (Jonah 1:10)
With a barely comprehensible stupidity Jonah attempted escape, and disregarded the ONLY all knowing, all seeing and all present God.
To endeavour to escape God's call is to invite storms into your life. Unlike satan who flees (see James 4:7) when he is resisted, God will only ever follow.
Remember, the storm of disobedience is inescapable -- it is always more difficult than any obedience will ever bring.
