Attending to Jesus

Soul Snack 157/10 ... Attending to Jesus

Do you believe in Jesus?

Do you belong to Jesus?

Does the carnage of the Cross both challenge your spirit and stir your soul?

Can the commission of Calvary to forgive, be enacted by you?

Is the call to hate your mother, pluck out your eye lest you sin, or sleep without a pillow something you flee from?

Can the Jesus who gave you His torn hands, also call for your torn heart?

Does His plea for your attention ever supersede your activity for Him?

Will the desire for devotion ever successfully compete with the thirsts of your soul?

(How long has it been since your prostrate position of utter humility has been rich with tears about your sin or the sins of the world?) 

You cry to the Jesus of Calvary, the sent one from Heaven, how long do I have to endure ... ?

His return cry to you - How long until I gain your undivided attention and am allowed to cup your heart in my tender palms?

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Mt 11:28-29)
