Soul Snack 9/61 ... Breakfast with Jesus - I
A Drawing Recognition
How many varieties of the 18 indigenous fish species in the sea of Galilee did these prevbiously luckless fisherman catch?
Inspiration to heed Jesus' outrageous calls can be difficult to create. Inspiration can be elusive and attention fleeting, yet Jesus had achieved this easily with His most weary followers.
Now, a net too heavy to haul, another simple task for He who floods valleys and raises mountains. Implanting inspiration, this too He is good at.
An overweight, nearly immovable catch, ensured His recognition that they needed so much. (Miracles do that. Miracles too are seen and received by those close to Jesus.)
Finally these exhausted and elated fishermen respond to Jesus.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. John 21:7-8
Peter impulsively again makes a splash. The other six deftly direct the boat to the shoreline. With any residual energy they follow Peter to Jesus. These men who are Jesus' closest friends, still follow their friend to Jesus.(It is a very good friend who will another friend to Jesus.)
Charcteristically Peter recognises Jesus (cf Mt 16:16) and reacted accordingly. Yet, to both recognise and react positively towards Jesus will always draw others too.
When I recognise Jesus at breakfast time I can receive His abundance for me (Jn 10:10) but even more importantly I will draw others to Him as well.
