Soul Snack 9/5 ... Whose Times?

The self-sufficient arrogance of temporal independence is really ignorance in disguise. It is a true blindness to absolute reality.

My times are in your hands ... Psalm 31:15a

This humble refrain of the Psalmist is an invitation to dependent thinking. It calls for non-indulgent living.

These six small words are a self-effacing recognition to He who is much higher, from he who is much lower.

The self-deception of the sinful human heart (Jer 17:9) believes foolishly yet confidently in their ability to control their own life circumstances.

To live disregarding God is as foolish as to think my days are in my hands.
.

All the days ordained for me
       were written in your book
before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16

... You are not your own; you were bought at a price ... 1 Cor 6:19-20

To realise my days belong to another is the very first lesson in numbering my days aright and the pursuit of wisdom.

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
