How quickly the Place of the Skull had become His confirmed destination. Untrammelled evil obviously working.
An unconscionable Pilate acquiescing (v24). Herod the tetrarch looked for a sideshow (v8). And, the Jews choose murder when they had their Messiah (v25).
The problem of that first easter still remains. The king stands before the world - He is still treated as a criminal.
The sight of Easter is to reveal the burdens of sin.
The light of Easter is to reveal the blindness of the soul.
The might of Easter is to reveal the blessing of heaven.
Yet somehow still the cruel eyes of the crowd are smothered to the caring eyes from the cross. How hard is it to see greatness and goodness when it is covered in rejection and rags?
