Soul Snack 9/46 ... Easter Echoes
This forever unnamed centurion, a purveyor of recognition and truth has spoken correctly for 2 millenia now. He will continue speaking until eternity arrives. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man." Lk 23:47
There is no surprise that the Roman army was there. He may have even overseen the erection of the cross, the execution of criminals and the crowd control. A rough day, tragedy and distress would not hinder his estimation of Jesus. In a place where there was no peace, this soldier would give praise for the Prince of Peace.
He has drawn an unseen, indelible verbal line of truth in the ancient sands of time. His deft finger unmistakeably etching a truth that will never be lost to wind blown dunes, storms or remoteness. This soldier's commands had echoed to 100 men, now they still resound - living words leaping from the pages of living scripture.
This truth line he drew deep into the sands of time, there are no blurry edges spilling away or over the line. There are no imprecise clarities to this line's definition. It is forever clear.
There would be no shaking in this commander's voice. No fear that the murderous crowd and jeering soldiers may not respond well to his testimony.
A righteous man is rare.
A righteous man is to be revered.
This righteous man is to be recognised.
Such righteousness is never to be rejected.
Can only a righteous man recognise righteousness? Surely, the liberating answer is - 'no'! For, I have too!
Easter echoes, His righteousness is still for all to see, hear and receive.
