Soul Snack 9/31 ... Radical Relationship

History's annals are cast in the notoriety or success of those willing to be different.

Separated by centuries (and a lot more) both Luther and Voltaire ensured they would be remembered across time.

Both the rebel and the radical can attract even an unwarranted attention.

He who upturned tables in the temples, called priests a 'brood of vipers' and consorted with the unacceptable set the standard for being radical. He did not just 'buck the sytem' but entirely reversed it.

This radical redeemer says it's ok to heal on the sabbath, to be kind to the sinful and to pray in private where works of devotion are not seen.

He has reversed religion - taking it from ritual to relationship.

He is most concerned that I approach Him. He invites me to stop with him and listen to Him. He even loves to speak well to me. (Sometimes it is best for me to leave my prayer fired 'shopping list' within the cover of my closed Bible.)

He so deeply desires my friendship. He desires my:
  • heart before my help,
  • head before my hands,
  • attention before my activity and my
  • prayer before my profit.
He does not want to witness my rituals. Radically He just wants to see me.

The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him ... Lam 3:25
